The medical question

Your diagnosis may be clear. The medical connection may not be.

VA disability cases can involve years of treatment records, C&P examinations, imaging, diagnoses, medications, service records, and conflicting medical opinions. A diagnosis alone does not always answer the medical question the VA needs answered.

Nexus reviews the evidence together and develops a medical opinion that explains what the record supports, what it does not, and how the relevant conditions relate.

A different kind of report

One veteran. One medical history. One integrated report.

Medical conditions rarely exist in isolation. Nexus evaluates service history, diagnoses, medications, secondary conditions, lay evidence, medical literature, and competing explanations together rather than treating every condition as a disconnected template.

Practical answers about independent medical opinions and what Nexus provides.

View All FAQs
What is an independent medical opinion?

An independent medical opinion evaluates the available medical evidence and provides a physician’s medical analysis of a specific question, such as whether one condition is related to military service or to another service-connected condition.

Is this the same as a nexus letter?

A traditional nexus letter may address a single medical connection. Nexus Medical Opinions is designed around a more comprehensive report that can evaluate the broader medical record, relevant evidence, literature, and multiple related medical questions when appropriate.

Can I use Nexus if I already have an attorney?

Yes. Veterans who are represented can use Nexus, and attorneys may also work with Nexus directly. Medical services remain separate from legal representation.

Does Nexus guarantee that VA will approve my claim?

No. Nexus provides independent medical opinion services and cannot guarantee the outcome of a VA disability claim.

Does Nexus file my VA claim?

No. Nexus Medical Opinions is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation or file claims on behalf of veterans.
